Getting in and what to bring.

What is Steam Complex’s age and ID policy?

You must be 18 or over. We operate a Challenge 25 policy, so bring valid photo ID if you may look under 25. See the ALG age & ID policy.

Do you check ID at the door?

Yes, if you look under 25 under our Challenge 25 policy. Accepted ID: passport, driving licence or PASS-marked card.

Do you accept card payments?

Yes — we accept cash and major debit and credit cards.

Do I need to book, or can I just turn up?

No booking needed for a normal visit — just turn up during opening hours. Some special events may differ; check the events page.

Can I leave and come back the same day?

Yes. Same-day pass-outs are included, so you can leave and come back the same day.

Are there lockers for valuables?

Yes — secure lockers are included with entry for your belongings.

Are towels provided?

Yes, a towel is included with entry. You’re welcome to bring your own as well.

What should I bring?

Just yourself and valid photo ID if you may look under 25. Towels, lockers and the basics are provided.

What should I wear?

A towel is the standard inside. Most visitors wear just a towel; you choose your own comfort level within the venue’s areas.

Are condoms and lubricant available?

Yes — condoms and lubricant are provided free.

What to expect

What a visit is like.

What is a gay sauna?

A gay sauna is a private, adults-only venue for men, combining spa-style facilities (sauna, steam, pool/jacuzzi) with a relaxed social and adult environment where meeting other men is openly part of the experience.

Who can visit a gay sauna?

Adult men (18+). Gay, bisexual, bi-curious and questioning men are all welcome. Trans men are welcome.

Is Steam Complex men-only?

Yes, Steam Complex is a men-only venue, except where a specific mixed event (such as a bisexual night) is advertised.

Do I have to be gay to visit?

No. You don’t need a label. Gay, bi, curious and questioning men all visit.

Do I need to be naked?

Not unless it’s a designated nude session. A towel is the normal standard; nudity is only required where a specific naked event says so.

Is it normal to go alone?

Completely normal — most visitors arrive alone. There’s no pressure to interact.

Are gay saunas safe for first-time visitors?

Yes. Staff are on hand, the code of conduct applies throughout, and there’s no pressure to do anything. Tell reception it’s your first visit if you’d like a quick run-through.

When are saunas busy or quiet?

It varies by day and time — evenings and weekends are typically busier, weekday daytimes quieter. Check current events for themed sessions.

Can I go just to relax?

Yes. You’re welcome to simply use the facilities and relax — there’s no expectation to do anything else.

Do I have to take part in anything sexual?

No. Nothing is expected or required. Consent comes first and ‘no thanks’ is always respected.

Are trans men welcome?

Yes — trans men are welcome.

Do you welcome all body types and backgrounds?

Yes. We welcome men of all shapes, sizes, ages, ethnicities and backgrounds.

Do you have policies for transgender or non-binary visitors?

Our spaces are men-only during main hours (gay, bi and curious men, including trans men). Specific events may have their own admission terms, which are stated on the event.

Are cross-dressers welcome?

Welcome, provided they identify as male, in line with our men-only admission.

I’m bi — can my girlfriend or female partner join me?

During normal men-only hours, no. Mixed admission applies only at advertised bisexual events such as Biphoria — check the events page for dates.

Do you have rules about consent and personal space?

Yes. Consent and respect apply throughout. A clear ‘no thanks’ is always respected; staff handle any concerns. See our Code of Conduct.

What if I feel unwell or unsafe during my visit?

Tell a member of staff straight away — they’re trained to help and can give you a private space or assistance.
